                                                 Tracking Psycholinguistics Experiments

                                     What is psycholinguistics?
It is the study of the relationship between linguistic behavior and psychological process including language acquisition.

In this experiments we are going to look into two parts of the human body. The eyes and the fingers. Chua says, “ Psycholinguistic often like to take responses from people’s finger and eyes as cues to how linguistic units are stored in people’s heads.” In our integrated “response box” our brain captures the structures of how to move our fingers. Creating memorized functions that are stored and ready to use. Eye tracking or informative eye responses based on how long words or images are presented by staring through multiple fixations.

For example: One time I had to do an extra credit for a course I took my sophomore  year in college, I had not read what we were supposed to do and signed up for the 1st item on the list. I had to look at a screen and press either the letter “S”for yes, green, skinny, and tall; and the letter “K” for no, red, fat, and short. I only had 5 seconds to memorize yes or no questions such as “ There were 8 students wearing hats and 3 wearing red shirts. Then 3 seconds for Was there 8 students wearing red hats? And I had to answer S or K as fast as possible. If I did not answer as fast as possible.

As referred by Chua “ Therefore, when measurements from a response box show people to take longer to respond to a linguistic unit, that unit is either not mentally stored in the manner presented, or is closely similar to other stored linguistic units.”
When I read the article I remembered my extra credit from sophomore year. My eyes and fingers were used for an experiment similar to Chuas studies and research.
